Kialo
Kialo is an online platform for structured argument mapping and deliberation, using a tree-based format in which central claims are supported or challenged by sub-arguments that can themselves be evaluated. This structure prevents discussion from collapsing into unanchored opinion streams and makes it possible to see the shape of a debate at a glance.
The platform is free to use and hosts public debates alongside private group discussions. It is proprietary rather than open source. Kialo Edu, a fork aimed at secondary and higher education, is used in courses at universities including Harvard and Princeton, and integrates with Moodle, Blackboard, and Google Classroom. It won the Bett Award 2025 for Best Free Digital Content.
