Foro Nacional por Colombia
Foro Nacional por Colombia is one of Colombia's longest-established civil society organisations, working on citizen participation, peace accord implementation (through the OPIAF observatory — Observatorio de la Participación Ciudadana en la Implementación del Acuerdo de Paz), extractive industry governance, and youth civic education. Its institutional longevity — decades rather than years — is itself significant in a country where many civil society organisations are project-funded and short-lived.
The organisation publishes Revista Foro, now at edition 118 — a quarterly journal of democratic analysis that has been a consistent intellectual reference point in Colombian political discourse. Campaigns include "No bote el voto" (Don't Waste Your Vote), an electoral participation campaign targeting voter apathy, framed as "more than a change of government, what's at stake is the opportunity to recover confidence in Colombian society's capacity to live in peace and democracy." Regional chapters operate in Bogotá (Foro Región Central) and Cali (Foro Suroccidente), extending the organisation's reach beyond the capital.
Foro Nacional occupies the institutional civil-society space in Colombia's democracy ecosystem — complementary to the accountability work of Transparencia por Colombia, the transparency infrastructure of Congreso Visible, and the social innovation approach of Movilizatorio, but distinct from all three in its combination of peace-process monitoring, intellectual production, and territorial presence.
