Citizens Parliament (UK)

Citizens Parliament is a UK advocacy organisation with a specific and concrete goal: abolish the appointed House of Lords and replace it with a representative chamber selected by sortition — a random sample of everyday people, similar to a jury, serving as a permanent upper house of review.

The proposal is notable for its institutional specificity. Rather than calling for a citizens' assembly to advise government (a common ask), Citizens Parliament argues for sortition as a permanent, structural feature of the constitution — replacing patronage and party appointment entirely.
